Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I know that it’s kinda lame and a lot of people think it’s a stupid holiday made up by greeting card companies to make $$$, and then there are those who downright hate February 14th, especially when they have no boo to enjoy it with. Well, regardless of my relationship status, I still love it. I love all the cutesy gifts in my favorite shades of pinks and reds (sometimes even pretty purples). I love the candy, and I absolutely love the makeup and beauty gift ideas and Valentine’s Day features that the magazines come up with for their February issues.

I decided I wanted to feature some Valentine’s Day-themed products a few times a week leading up to the big day in February. I love anything that’s pink and cute, so I’m going to have a lot of fun with this. I’m going to add in some sexy ideas and looks to impress your sweetheart, plus one nail polish per post that ties in with the theme. I figured there are so many nail polish options for those of you who like to paint your nails to go along with holiday themes (like I do — and sometimes that’s the extent of my festive-ness), so I’m going to feature a wide range of Valentine’s-y shades each post.

For my first Valentine’s Day Glam post, I knew I had to feature Too Faced’s brand-new trio of blushes that comes in a cute heart-shaped tin. I am anxiously awaiting for this product to hit stores — Macy’s didn’t have them in yet when I went there last week, but they said it was coming soon! I admit, I am only buying this product because of its packaging — I really don’t need a blush right now. But, of course, I would love to try it out, and it gives you three pretty colors to use. I will probably do my own review on it once I get it, or maybe just update this post with a review.

Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush ($29 for 0.19 oz.; Sephora.com) is “a trio-color blush of rose, coral and peach, all packed into one pretty heart.” Pretty, indeed. I love, love, love the look of this blush. The color trio is called Candy Glow, which is described as a rose pink shimmer, soft coral pink and peachy pink shimmer. These colors look so gorgeous … I think I’m going to head to Sephora and Macy’s on my lunch break tomorrow to see if they got it in yet. You can swirl the colors together and use them all at once or use them each individually “for a custom flush or highlight.” Sephora says this blush was developed with easy application and “a no-fail color palette to take the guesswork out of creating a sweet, romantic flush.

Too Faced’s Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush is a baked color formula, so it is supposed to work on all skin tones, and, as with all Too Faced products, it is 100% cruelty-free. This blush also contains lingonberry, which hydrates and brightens the skin to enhance the formula by helping to impart a natural glow.

Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush can be purchased for $29 from Too Faced’s website, in stores and online at Sephora, ULTA and any other retailers that carry Too Faced cosmetics.

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Timeless Rubies Product Review:

I’ve been meaning to try this new nail polish formula by CoverGirl and I finally picked one up yesterday in a perfect Valentine’s Day-themed hue. CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Timeless Rubies ($4.99 for 0.37 oz.; Drugstore.com) is a deep sparkly red that comes out a lot lighter than it looks in the bottle — it seems more pinkish-red when you put it on your nails. I find that a lot of sparkly nail polishes don’t have a very big color intensity, but this one certainly does. I usually don’t wear red nail polishes, and I was actually pleased to find out that it looks a lot less red on my nails. This pretty, light ruby tone goes along perfectly with the jewel-toned trends this winter season.

CoverGirl’s Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss is supposed to be a triple threat formula: it includes a base coat, high gloss color and chip-resistant top coat all in one bottle. I still used a base coat and top coat since I am so horrible at keeping nail polish on my nails (I usually get a gel polish done at my salon). I am the worst person to review staying power of nail polish; I must say, however, that I made it through Day 2 of wear and it hasn’t really budged.

I found this color to glide on incredibly smooth and two coats is perfect — it has just the right amount of sparkle with lots of color. It’s supposed to last for “as long as one week” but I highly doubt that it will, especially on my nails. Either way, I will probably be buying more colors in this formula, especially since there are 45 colors to choose from and they’re all super pretty. The bottom line — pretty good nail polish quality for a pretty cheap price, the color intensity is great and there are so many beautiful colors to choose from. Those are at least the reasons why I would purchase a second bottle.

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Timeless Rubies is available for $4.99 from Drugstore.com, Target.com and any other store or website that sells CoverGirl cosmetics.

Tonight I bought the Covergirl Outlast Brilliant nail gloss in lav-endure at Wal Mart and I have to say – love it! It goes on with true integrity to what you see in the bottle and I feel comfortable putting it on with the trust that it won’t chip tomorrow. See my full review at
